Don’t Waste Your Money on Empty Promises
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is different from paid advertising and marketing such as Pay Per Click (PPC). SEO is an organic process. There are technical components to that process, but for the most part, it is a way to show the search engines that your website is the best option for consumers looking for the information you offer. You can’t “buy your way to the top” in Google organic rankings; sponsored listings a.k.a. paid ads may give you top ranking visibility in paid search marketing — but minus the authority and credibility required in organic search engine marketing, this simply cannot be done.
The process of ranking well in search engines in organic search is complex and ever-changing. So, it takes time and knowledge to create a truly well-ranked website on the Google Search Engine Report Page (SERP). But what about companies that offer “guaranteed SEO?”
Are Guaranteed SEO Services Real?
Some companies promise specific results from their search engine optimization methods. A guaranteed SEO service, as it is often called, promises to get your website on the first page of Google SERP. Some make bold promises that, if they fail to achieve the desired goals, they will refund your investment. That sounds like a solid solution to SEO, right?
If someone is offering first-page results on Google in 30 days and increased traffic to your website… it’s hard to say no. Yet, in truth, there is no way to “beat the system” and trick the search engines into ranking a website like this, especially so quickly.
In reality, algorithms are in place to help Google determine any website’s true value relative to the words, and phrases being searched. Google’s users – the people performing the searches – expect to find exactly what they need on that first page. Google cannot meet its users’ needs if they don’t use numerous methods to determine the value of any single website.
Google’s a big organization with a lot of history. It fully understands people want to game the system. That’s why it has lots of tools and checks in place to eliminate the risk of gaming the system and delivering less than excellent results to its users.
Why Can’t You Trust These Promises?
If they are providing a guarantee, you may be thinking about taking a chance on the services offered by such SEO companies. However, there are several reasons why this is a bad idea:
- There’s no way to guarantee results. Let’s start here. Any company making a promise like this is untrustworthy from the start because even Google does not provide any such promises, and there’s no way to know which techniques are guaranteed to work for your website. There’s no clear explanation of what the combination of algorithms is as it considers over 200 factors for ranking, so it’s very difficult to know what will work to generate immediate first-page rankings. And, Google’s algorithm is in constant flux.
- ‘Black Hat’ techniques can get you de–listed. Many organizations making promises like this use ‘black hat’ techniques which have been banned by Google and end up punishing your ranking rather than helping your ranking. These tactics may be successful for a short time, but once Google figures it out (and they will!), they could penalize and de-list your website.
- One-size-fits-all approach. Most companies that offer these services do the same thing for every website. They don’t create a custom SEO strategy for your company, which means they don’t think about competitors, market, or define your target customer. They just stuff your website full of keywords, so it gets a quick bounce toward the top. Then, they are gone.
Well, Then, What’s the Solution?
To be successful, any website needs careful attention to the current SEO demands and ranking factors. A customized SEO strategy that considers your goals, customers, competitors, and current ranking is necessary. Here’s the most important news. When you invest in an authentic, effective SEO strategy, you get the SEO results you need, and they can last for years to come. You can compete. You can be on the Google SERP first page. Yet, you must consider the right methods to achieve this goal. Sound SEO tactics pay off in the long run.
